The Rigel 7 Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect and use your personal information, and to help you make informed decisions when using Rigel 7, located at rigel7.com and its directly associated domains (collectively, "Rigel 7" or "Website").
By using or accessing Rigel 7, you acknowledge your acceptance of the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
The Information We Collect
- When you visit Rigel 7, we collect your browser type and IP address. This information is gathered for all Rigel 7 visitors.
- When you request Rigel 7 membership, we collect your e-mail address. We also request, but do not require, additional personal information, including your name, mailing address and a photo.
- We store certain information from your browser using cookies. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer identifying that user to website servers. We use session ID cookies to maintain session state from page to page and to confirm that users are logged in when accessing secured pages. These cookies do not contain any personal information or information otherwise useful to third parties. These cookies terminate once the user logs off or closes the browser.
- When you select 'Remember Me' in a comment form, additional cookies are stored on your computer, containing the name, e-mail address and Website URL you specified in the form. These cookies are encrypted to prevent inspection by third parties. These cookies automatically expire in one year.
- When you submit a comment, the name, e-mail address, website url and comments you specify in the form are stored, along with the current date and time.
- When you request a Rigel 7 member account (or subscribe to Rigel 7's mailing list), your e-mail address is stored, along with the current date and time. If you fail to confirm the request within 48 hours, the information is automatically deleted from Rigel 7's servers.
- When you login, your IP address is stored, along with the current date and time and the status of your attempt, successful or unsuccessful.
- When you donate to Rigel 7 by credit card, the donation amount is stored, along with the current date and time and the credit card processor's (payment gateway's) transaction ID. The transaction ID contains no personal information - it relates directly to information stored securely by the credit card processor. If an e-mail address is provided, then the donation is tagged to the respective member account. If none exists for the specified e-mail address, a new member account is created - your e-mail address is recorded into your member profile (and becomes your login), along with the credit card billing address information you supplied in the donation form. Rigel 7 does not store any other credit card information in any form.
- When you donate to Rigel 7 by PayPal, the donation amount is stored, along with PayPal's transaction ID and the date and time upon which the transaction completes. The transaction ID contains no personal information - it relates directly to information stored securely by PayPal. If an e-mail address is provided, then the donation is tagged to the respective member account. If none exists for the specified e-mail address, a new member account is created - your e-mail address is recorded into your member profile (and becomes your login). Rigel 7 does not store any other personal information returned by PayPal.
- When you submit a contact form, the supplied name, e-mail address, subject and message are stored in a standard e-mail message that is delivered to one or more Rigel 7 contacts.
How Collected Information Is Used
- Browser type and IP address information for all Rigel 7 visitors are processed by statistical analysis software to generate aggregate website activity reports. These reports contain no personal information and may be shared by Rigel 7 with third parties as necessary to promote and improve Rigel 7.
- For all Rigel 7 members, City, State, Zip and Country information are used by Rigel 7 to generate aggregate geographic activity reports. These reports contain no personal information and may be shared by Rigel 7 with third parties as necessary to promote and improve Rigel 7.
- Your historical login details, including date and time, status and IP address, are used by Rigel 7's website servers to lockout your account when it receives successive login failures, as from a 'brute-force' attack. The information is also visible to Rigel 7 by way of server logs and may be used by Rigel 7 to determine and respond to this and other security threats.
- When you login, Rigel 7 uses your historical login details, including date and time and status to determine and announce events that have occurred since you last logged in, such as the addition of new music to Rigel 7's audio blog.
- Your historical profile modifications are visible to Rigel 7 by way of server logs. This information may be used by Rigel 7 to assist you and to determine and respond to security threats.
- If you donate to Rigel 7 and disable the 'Hide Me' profile option, you will appear by name in Rigel 7's donor pages, along with Website URL, Message and Photo, as provided in your member profile. Donors appear in order of cumulative donation amount; highest first. Individual and cumulative donation amounts are not displayed.
- If you donate to Rigel 7 and disable the 'Hide Me' profile option, you will appear by name in the 'Recent Donors' sidebar panel, along with Website URL, Message and Photo, as provided in your member profile. Donors appear in order of donation date and time - most recent first - and can expect to rotate off of the panel as new donations are received. Individual and cumulative donation amounts are not displayed.
- If you donate to Rigel 7, disable the 'Hide Me' profile option and also donate a sufficient (cumulative) amount, you will appear by name in the 'Top Donors' sidebar panel, along with Website URL, Message and Photo, as provided in your member profile. Donors appear in order of cumulative donation amount - highest first. Individual and cumulative donation amounts are not displayed.
- When you request assistance with a prior credit card donation, the credit card processor's transaction ID is used by Rigel 7 to obtain transaction reports from the credit card processor and to post supplemental transactions against the original donation, such as with credits (refunds) and voids.
- When you request assistance with a prior PayPal donation, PayPal's transaction ID is used by Rigel 7 to obtain transaction reports from PayPal and to post supplemental transactions against the original donation, such as with credits (refunds) and voids.
- Your e-mail address is used by Rigel 7 to deliver your initial membership verification request and any subsequent password recovery notices.
- If you enabled e-mail alerts in your member profile, then your e-mail address will receive Rigel 7's regular e-mail announcements. At a minimum, subscribers receive an e-mail alert whenever new music is posted to Rigel 7's audio blog.
- For all comments submitted to Rigel 7's website, the submitter's name, Website URL and comments are automatically published on Rigel 7's website. An e-mail address, if provided, is not published, but used only by Rigel 7 as necessary to communicate privately with the submitter. Rigel 7 may opt to temporarily hide or permanently delete comments, as the planet sees fit.
